A few years back I had a few friends insist how easy it was to lose weight without going to the gym; each time they’d start up that convo, I’d either roll my eyes at them or dismiss the whole concept as absolutely ridiculous. Little did I know they were right! In fact, had I known sooner, I’d get in shape quicker and wouldn’t waste all that money on a gym membership. Oh well, you live and learn, right? Once I realized they were right, everything changed.
Here is a list of my favorite out-of-the-gym exercises you can pick up:
Go for a power walk alone
Nothing beats having a few hours to yourself to decompress and clear your mind – and a walk helps do just that! Apart from helping you put your day in retrospect, a walk will also help your body tone and the pounds will melt away. A power walk is way more intense than a regular, chill walk, and it burns way more calories. Plus, your whole body gets engaged equally so you don’t have to fear some parts of your body won’t get any physical activity. The faster you walk, the better! Set a route you want to walk and walk it every day, no excuse. You’ll see results sooner than you think!
Or invite some friends
Why not turn your power walks into chit-chat parties with your besties? These days, nobody’s got the time to spend hours talking and chilling, so why not use walking as a) a beneficial exercise you do together b) an opportunity to catch up, spend time together and see each other on a regular basis? Yes! You can switch it up from time to time and compete who gets to the “finish line” first, run or similar.
Ride a bicycle
Riding a bike is super fun, relaxing and yet – incredibly efficient for the body! Honestly, have you ever seen a fat biker? Of course not! Biking helps tone your legs while keeping the core engaged and shredding pounds. Moreover, while riding a bike you are keeping your mind engaged too, as it’s focused on the road – this additionally powers up your body. Awesome!
Pick up a sport outdoors
When the weather’s nice, everyone crawls out and jams together; find your group of people and switch between sports like basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, swimming, etc. Being engaged in group sports will expand your social circle, keep things fun and get you in shape quicker than you anticipate. Add another element of motivation to your outdoor activities by choosing cute outfits when you go jamming with your folks: anything from super comfy soccer gear to adorable tennis skirts will up your game in a second since you’ll feel more attractive and desirable!
Turn cleaning into a fitness
Yack, cleaning! But – when approached from a different angle, cleaning can actually be your best fitness exercise! Put the music on and clean your house regularly by dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing the bathroom and cleaning the kitchen – you’ll break more sweat than you think AND you’ll keep your house sparkling clean!
Be hot in the sheets
Well, who can say NO to being sexually active, right? If you’ve got a partner, go on a joint mission of keeping things hotter in the sheets than you would initially! Did you know that only one intercourse can burn over 100 calories? Woah! Now, there’s additional motivation to have sex every day of the week… twice.
Go dancing
Dancing is awesome – it’s not only fun but it’s incredibly good for your fitness! By dancing to hot genres like hip hop, R&B, pop songs, Latin music and other engaging tunes, you’ll engage your entire body, your mind will go into such a positive trip and you’ll do wonders to your body. A piece of advice, though – if you are going out with friends to dance, don’t drink alcohol – it’s highly fattening so it will neutralize the pounds lost.
If you want to lose a few extra pounds or tone your body, use nature and everything around you as your personal trainer. You’ll love it!
